月色直播 (SFT) invites you to go behind the scenes and discover what happens in this round the clock operation, meeting the people dedicated to delivering it.听听听

Come and learn about the unique workings of your hospital through a variety of interactive demonstrations, activities and displays. The day offers something for all ages, including bring your toy for a check-up at the popular 鈥榯oy hospital鈥�, get hands-on with lifelike simulation manikins used to train our highly skilled staff, meet therapy pets and see the role of ArtCare in supporting the patient experience.

Attendees will be treated to a tasting menu courtesy of our catering team. In addition, you will be able to access information about 月色直播 careers, of which there are 350!听Visitors will get to tour parts of the hospital and see numerous departments who will be showcasing their services. There will be live music, creative activities as well as historical displays. Come and join us!听听

The Open Day will be held on 7th June from 10:00鈥€� 15:00.鈥疎ntry and parking is free; food will be available.听

'Blue plaque' tour - What will you discover?

We have over 250 years of experience caring for our community.听 Our history involves Florence Nightingale, caring for casualties from D Day, advances in plastic surgery and the treatment of burns, spinal injuries and innovation in rehabilitation.

Look out for the blue plaques around the site to find out more about some of those moments in our history.听

Bowel Screening Programme - There are 'no butts' about it, bowel screening saves lives!

Specialist screening practitioners from the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire will be available to answer any questions.听

Catering - Come and try our hospital menu

Salisbury Foundation Trust is one of just a limited number of hospitals nationally that prepares meals from scratch onsite. Our trained chefs cater for a variety of specialist diets and diverse cultures, using seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. Come and taste it for yourself - free samples of the hospital menu being served to patients will be available.

Chaplaincy - Here for everyone of any faith ...or none

'Experiencing Disorientation' - This is a common experience of those coming into hospital. Visitors are invited to take part in activities to experience a new way of seeing and feeling. The team will also be helping guests reflect on the patient and family experience.

The Chaplaincy team are here to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of everyone in the hospital from staff to patients and their relatives. They provide a gentle listening ear for people with a faith and for those with none.

Did you know: The chapel is open 24/7 and available for everyone.

Children's Outpatients - Visit our special Toy Clinic open today!

Bring your favourite toy to receive a full check up by our trained paediatric team. You will also find out more about what happens when you are poorly or have an operation.

In line with Child Safety Week, the team will be sharing information about safety issues such as button batteries, burns and dangers of playing with washing liquids.听

Clinical Radiology

Communications - Get yourself on SFT TV

The Communications, Engagement and Community Relations team is there to support, guide and lead communications and engagement with our workforce, the local community and the media. We manage the Trust's reputation, support our system colleagues and respond at times of crisis.听Voluntary Services听also sits within our team.

We create content through video, photography and copywriting, and manage the Trust's primary communications channels including听, the听Trust website, the听staff intranet (SALi)听and internal communications such as听Bulletins听and听Broadcasts.听

We manage the annual听月色直播 Staff Survey听and the quarterly听Pulse Surveys听and lead the management of the听Hearing It events, as part of our commitment to engaging with and listening to our staff. We deliver corporate staff events such as the annual听Staff Awards, Tent Talks and Long Service Awards.

Our Community Relations work sees us liaise with听, the听听and the Culture Pillar to promote Salisbury as a vibrant place to live, work and play. We focus on leading the Trust's Widening Participation by supporting the healthcare staff of the future.

Day Surgery Unit - Take a rare opportunity to be awake in an operating theatre

Have you watched TV programmes about an operating theatre and wondered what the theatre environment is really like? Well now鈥檚 your chance to find out.

Come and spend some time with the theatre team to learn about the activities we undertake on a daily basis.听

You鈥檒l get the chance to 鈥榞own and glove鈥� for an operation as well as see how 'key hole' surgery is performed, and you may even have a go yourself!听

Emergency Services - Get up close to the blue light services

We will have our partners available from Wiltshire Fire & Rescue (10.00-13.00), Wiltshire Police and E-Zec Medical Ambulance where you can see what it like to ride in their vehicles.

In addition, we have Fat Sams Ice Creams, which we consider to be the fourth emergency service!

Eye Clinic - We can't wait to see you!

The Eye Clinic is excited to be opening its doors for the first time at the Open Day.听

We are the largest Outpatients service provider here in the Trust, meeting the needs of thousands of patients. We have a wide range of diagnostic equipment which helps us to diagnose and monitor a variety of different eye conditions such as Macula Degeneration and Glaucoma, as well as various treatment services including injections and laser.听

Not only are we meeting the needs of our patients here at the hospital site, but we also have clinics in the Community Diagnostic Centre near the Central Car Park in Salisbury where our team of Ophthalmic Assistants complete monitoring and follow up appointments on behalf of the Doctors, enabling patients to be seen on a regular basis and with shorter waiting times, as well as a much swifter appointment process. This has been a hugely successful project that was implemented in September 2023.

At this event, we are looking forward to demonstrating some of our imaging equipment, putting your knowledge to the test as well as allowing you to experience what it is like to have certain eye conditions.

There will be a selection of films running throughout the event in our Lecture Theatre about our hospital including from our historical archives.

Florence Nightingale Display

Florence is an instantly recognisable icon of the Victorian age and much is known about the legend, 鈥楾he Lady With the Lamp鈥� who became a national heroine at Crimea.听Florence Nightingale achieved a position of prominence which enabled her to campaign for the training of nurses, public health and came to symbolise modern nursing.

Florence had close links with Salisbury throughout her career. In 1845 Florence Nightingale first expressed her wish to be a nurse, and hoped to get permission from her family to enter Salisbury Infirmary, the closest hospital to their family home of Embley House near Wellow, Hampshire. Her family were opposed to the idea as nurses, at that time, tended to come from much poorer backgrounds.

Medical Devices

Medical Device Management Services look after 10,706 pieces of medical equipment ranging from anaesthetic machines to thermometers and everything in between!

We comprise a technical team, a training team, and also operate a Loan Library service delivering and collecting equipment for clinical areas.

Behind the scenes, we are also responsible for the purchase and disposal of equipment, and guidance relating to the safe use of devices and decontamination of equipment.

Minor Injuries - Get plastered with the Emergency Department

Take the opportunity to try your hand at plastering, putting on a sling, applying dressings and bandages. You will also learn how to use a stethocope and blood pressure machine.

Nature Walk - 12.00-13.00. Booking essential

At midday we will go on a gentle stroll around the fields and site of Salisbury District Hospital (SDH). We will be exploring the natural environment and guided by wildlife enthusiast James Macpherson.

Looking out for nature sightings as SDH sits in some unique chalkland habitat and enjoys rare flowers and views across local countryside. This is an opportunity to engage with the natural world.

This event requires some walking outdoors so please wear comfortable shoes and coat if needed. Also available is a nature guide booklet available to purchase from the League of Friends shop. Read more at听

Come and see what PALS (Patient, Advice and Liaison Service) offers as a service and how we can help. If you have been an inpatient, outpatient or visitor to the Hospital, we would love to hear of your experience in our pop up story booth.

Radio Odstock - Tours and chance to go 'on-air'

Radio Odstock will be open to visitors. Volunteer presenters will be broadcasting live shows and you are very welcome to come and have a guided tour of the studios and request a song which you can announce on air yourself if you wish!

Steris is a private business with many sterilisation and decontamination facilities across the UK and worldwide and Steris are experts in this field.

The Sterile services at Salisbury District Hospital supports the activity of the operating theatres, endoscopy, clinic areas, dentistry, podiatry services and external customers.

Sustain & Reclaim - See how we transform rubbish into something useful!

The Sustain & Reclaim Centre in SDH South Corridor is managed by the Sustainability Team, Facilities.

A team of talented and highly dedicated volunteers are the lifeblood of the Centre and their efforts enable the Trust to recycle non-medical assets including furniture & ambulatory aids.

The Volunteers also provide a re-upholstery service for both clinical and office furniture. These activities save the Trust thousands of pounds year on year.

Did you know...In 2024-2025, over 1,300 crutches were collected, cleaned and delivered back to the Emergency department and Orthopaedic department, ready for future patients.

Therapy Parrot - Meet Poppy and find out about the joy she brings to our patients

Poppy, a Conure parrot, will be accompanied by her owner Elizabeth Choi. Staying firmly in her cage, Poppy is a regular visitor to the hospital, bringing comfort and distraction to our patients in Hospice, children in Sarum Ward and dementia patients. She will be touring the hospital throughout the day. Look out for her on your travels.

Tops Day Nurseries

Research shows that having bright colours on the walls can be overwhelming for children, reducing their ability to concentrate and learn.

All Tops Day Nurseries have been specially designed with neutral walls to help your children focus on learning through play.

Have you ever wondered how big changes are made in the hospital? Come and visit the Transformation Team in Hedgerows corridor and have a go at project management by building a Lego Duplo ward! All ages welcome.听

Transformation - Find out how we are transforming our patient care

The Transformation Team are a service which works across the whole hospital to drive change and make improvements, aligned to the Trust's Vision and priorities using structured professional project management methodologies, change skills and leadership behaviours.

We work collaboratively with clinical and operational staff to bring benefits for our People working for us, our Patients and their families, and our Partnerships working with us.听听

We have managed the setting up of new and improved wards such as the state-of-the-art Imber Ward, and expanding our Medical Same Day Emergency Care to improve timeliness of care when patients come to us in an emergency.

Did you know...By introducing digital assessments, we have enabled clinical services to reduce waiting times, such as Gynaecology who can now add an additional 96 appointments per year, seeing patients more quickly. The digitising of outpatient appointment letters is improving our communication with patients, which is not only saving the hospital money, but also so much better for our environment.

This year we implemented a new digital system called BadgerNet to replace paper records for maternity care. The very first baby was officially registered into the system at 11:23 am on 26^th February 2025. This makes it easier to share patient information, improving care for patients who move between care locations.听听

Transformation - Find out about Digital ReSPECT plans and practice your CPR skills

The Digital ReSPECT Plan documents a patient's personalised recommendations for their clinical care and treatment in a future emergency in which they are unable to make or express choices. Please visit us to discuss why this is important and what this means you and your family.听

Why not come and have a go at practicing your CPR on the ReSUS dummy using the British Heart Foundation training material. See if you can keep to the beat of the Bee Gees Staying Alive music!听

Wessex Rehabilitation Centre

Wessex Rehabilitation have a stall and will be selling a variety of glass work, metal work and woodwork projects that have been made by patients undergoing rehabilitation.

All money raised will go towards supporting the Stars Appeal Fund.

Wiltshire Health Improvement Hub

We provide stop smoking and weight management programmes through 1-2-1 and group sessions both face to face and virtually.

This includes NRT/medication and behaviour change for 12 weeks with a health coach for smoking and healthy weight advice and support.
