About the DASH

Salisbury District Hospital's existing day surgery unit was built in the 1990s and is beyond its expected operational life. At the same time, demand for diagnostic services continues to grow.

The new Diagnostic and Surgical Hub will address both priorities, delivering modern surgical and diagnostic facilities in a high-quality building designed for efficiency, sustainability and patient wellbeing.

Subject to business case approval, the proposed hub will include:

  • Five operating theatres
  • MRI and CT scanners
  • Four endoscopy rooms

The new facility will be purpose-built to separate planned care from emergency services, helping to improve efficiency and patient experience.

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Wiltshire Council in July 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in early 2027.
